Today was a shakeout ride for all of us who are using Trek supplied bikes. Very nice – Domane SL7, Gen 4, probs about $8k retail. Rides like a dream and quick, plus latest tech!!! All ready thinking a new bike in my future.

The ride was an out to the Pacific Ocean and back from hotel (The Cannery Pier Hotel, which is absolutely gorgeous rooms on the Columbia River). The beach was wonderful at Fort Stevens State Park. By the time we arrived nice sunny day, for the beach.

The pic is a photo of the entire group (I’m 7th from the right) Some really enthusiastic riders who are crazy fast!!! I stayed in my lane and was very content taking in the beautiful scenery – which means I was in the bottom half of the riders, I think it is my sweet spot😊

We also had a bunch of organizational talks about the van, your luggage, daily plans, safety…important stuff to get 22 random people across the country…but not particularly exciting.

We ended the day with a great dinner at Nekst, where the chef and his wife explained the local foods. It was delish!!! In the process of getting organized again with repacking. Not sure how many times I will do this. It’s kind of guessing game on what you need when and always bringing all bags to your room. I prob will do this 48 more times!Tomorrow is first 100 mile day with a couple big climbs…so off we go!
