  • Miles total 475.5
  • Elevation today 4980 ft
  • Elevation total 29646 ft
  • Weather – wind at our backs again at around 10 mph with gusts to 20; beautiful sunny temperate day (mid 50’s start and end at 75); perfect-o!!!
Planned route

Today was about 3 route climbs and a killer kicker (14% grade) to hotel. Each climb got progressively longer and steeper. The legs are coming round but each one has a tempo with a song in my head to get me up to the top. Today – Beastie Boys, You Gotta Fight For Your Right!!!

It was a day of weird mishaps – thankfully none mine! We had a guy in a soft shoulder going up a hill – slide about 4 feet down embankment and saved it. Another guy had his rear light fall off and lodge. between wheel and bike frame – wheel stopped and skidded for about 6 feet, clipped out, no timber. We had a construction site with pilot car escort – had some dude in a Corvette do a burn out in front of flag guy, then pass pilot car; Stater came and chased him down-he was in back of WSP SUV when I went by him. Plus a couple flats – we are running on tubeless tires, so sealant blow over the guys behind them. Wild day!!!

The scenery of the Palouse was beautiful and monotonous. You just wanted the hills to have your mind focus on something else than the tan/brown hills. It was like you were in a trance!!!

Coming into Lewiston, you go along the Snake River. It is very pretty!

Next up, heading to the Nez Pierce Res…Kamiah!!
