Planned, not executed

Today was story of two big climbs – one that was 20 miles long (ugh!!!) and a second steep (6% out of a canyon for 2 miles). Plus I had the personal trifecta – saddle sores starting (crazy tinder right under the cheeks); second was a flat and third, I missed a turn and was MIA for a bit)

So the ride was tough. Narrow highway going up with lotta trucks – kinda sketch. Going up hill for 20 miles with 3%, may sound easy – believe it was a forever up. Once up, we were in a plateau, where it was hot and still going up, just not as fast. Then lunch and a decent into a canyon and 2 miler with 500 feet out. I was sucking wind on both…really bad!!!

My personal trifecta on a tough day. The butt is screaming to say don’t you put pressure on me!!! Well, this is cycling, that’s were it goes. Right now I very tight with the Neosporin cream I brought!

Second was getting a flat. Normally this would have been the lead story. Flats=trauma (time to fix, how to fix and likely hood it’s not fixed. However, Trek is using tubeless tires – no tube and a sealant. It’s great. For me, I didn’t know I had a flat until a guide told me. The sealant was all over the back of the bike. I came in with 1/3 suggest tire pressure – but I was still riding!!! Go on ya Trek!!!

Last was I missed a turn ( I was playing with my GoPro to turn on). You only hear what you want from the guides for the route. I heard descent, so missed turn and took a big decent. To get on course I had to reverse back up to missed turn…adding about 3 miles and 500 feet of climbing. Just brilliant!!

Tonight is pizza party as tomorrow we head to Lolo, MT – long day of 115 miles with 6450 of climbs😩
