Day 10 Pacelining Lolo Falls to Missoula

  • Miles today 37.0
  • Miles total 709.4
  • Elevation today 299 ft
  • Elevation total. 41003 ft
  • Weather – another brilliant day – very chilly start in shadows of the hills, low mid 40’s (brrr) and about 65 when arrived in Missoula- zero wind!
Planned

This is what the doctor ordered – mostly down, a group interested in covering the miles, perfect conditions and zero traffic. We travelled on US route 12 for 25 miles, then a bike trail for 12.

This was a pace line day, which really means no time for pics. Starting out with 16, all pedaling to get out of dodge. Finished with 8 staying together. It was bliss on the line going about 25 mph on the flats ( we weren’t the fast boys either) and only having to be in the lead twice. It was like being on a cruise ship, just spinning!!!

The trail was nice and wide. The guys from the east coast were commenting they wished for trails like this. It was ok, not as nice as the Samm or Burke-Gilmon. I just smiled knowing how good we have it in Seattle! Getting into town, many cross overs with street traffic, kinda like the Burke-Gilmon but cars have right of way and drivers enforce it – Not like SEA!!!

Total time to 37 miles with and ehh trail and traffic was about 2 hours so flying and an early start on a rest day!!! So it is chores:

  • Laundry- 10 days of bike clothes, lots of salt and dreamy odors
  • Personal hygiene-quest for butt cream
  • Coffee shop – need a proper latte or cortado

Tomorrow is a lounger for Monday is another killer climb…on to Helena!

View in a pace line, the person in front of you rear row tire – no touch or you go down….like bricks!!!!
