Plan ride

Today was to be a build up ride, heading to Saturday major, major climb. Didn’t go exactly to plan!

First I was messing with music to play for send off, “Welcome to the Jungle”-Guns and Roses and was stand over the bar and timber – not moving…classic!

Second, I had my second flat, when I was killing the ride, averaging about 19 mph. Rae, one of the guides swapped her rear tire mine.

From the flat, my garmin was giving me wrong directions. Yep, went off course…again. This time was completely different route that increased mileage by about 5 miles and about 500 feet of elevation. But the kicker this was gravel road riding…we are talking loose stuff, washboard, big rocks to avoid. I think I did close to 25 miles on the stuff. I just following the road, hoping it would dump me out at right spot!!! Miraculously, I was back on course but probs about 60-90 mins back from my group! Ya, it was a wild one and very exhausting!

Couple things about gravel – it’s not smooth going up or down. Particularly down with the washboard, literally thought my helmet was going to shake off. On the plus side, a two point buck, what but deer, that I scared, ran next to me for about 2 miles. Ya, the whole ordeal wasn’t traumatizing (that will come in a month) but def memorable!

Next up Wyoming and possibly a guide dog and/or Garmin lessons!
