Today was actually 2 rides – one from hotel to ferry and second, after 2 and 1/2 hr ferry ride. Pretty much a dinker day that was recovery. Except Mike, who is a great rider clipped a pole and went down on a curb. He was right behind me and said he wasn’t paying attention. Scrapes on his leg, hand and shoulder. Pretty superficial but a shock to the system. He told everyone I gave him an elbow because I was tired of his Larry lost jokes.
But before all that – the ferry ride. This was a fast moving boat, not like on Puget Sound. Only cars (and bikes) no trucks or cars with trailers. Which meant half of the guide crew had to drive around the end of the lake thru Chicago to beat us to destination…which they did. The guides are tireless workers, really amazing.
However as we leave the harbor the “lake” which is pro bigger than puget sound is picking up steam. They are passing out bracelets, pills, and ginger candy – none of it worked….I’d say 1/2 the boat was sick and 1/2 of those barged. You knew it was going to be bad when the bags were laid out on the table! I rode backwards and fell asleep on the passage…ya, I know it’s a gift!
Tomorrow is in Michigan and we are now in eastern time zone. That is the good news, bad news is expected to rain all day and temps in 60’s, wind 5mph with gusts to 15, heading to Marshall.
