- Weather – misty rain most of the day, enough to get you wet but wearing a coat you’re in a sauna – humid! Temps in 60’s with 85%+ humidity😅

Today started out wet and windy. It was pouring and we are in the morning commute so roads were busy. We had a crash of folks going across railroad tracks which are treacherous- but it wasn’t me (Yay!!!). However about 2 miles later, I am shifting from the large front ring to the small ring and the chain drops (essentially falls off) and wedges between the front chain rings and the frame of the bike. Stopped, yanked, pulled and still jammed. Called the guides for help – after tugs, pulls and playing with it, mysteriously it unjams!!! This whole process took about 15 mins – this may not seem like much, but feels like a lifetime as you see the lights of your group fade away. Ya, at mile 5, not a good feeling.
Finally got underway and off to catch the group. For the next 87 miles, it is nothing but rollers. When I say rollers, rolling roads where on each down hillside of the roller you are peddling to get up the other side. But unfortunately you never quite have enough momentum to reach the top so you are standing to pedal. I must have done this probs a thousand times! It just rips the strength from you legs as you have no rhythm to speed thru. To say the least the legs feel like mush. However, at 92 miles I was surprised it was over- don’t get me wrong, I was glad, really ecstatic, but not trashed. Something is coming together!
The day was overall dull – rainy, overcast and rolly terrain with not much to see. The pics kinda reflect but hey it’s Michigan and any of you know, Michigan can have its elseself and fall into a sink hole (particularly University of Michigan)
Tomorrow is a long day in the saddle, 120 miles into Ohio…headed to Rossford (which is basically Toledo, Ohio – not WA)
