Day 45 Perfect fall cycling – Ticonderoga to Hanover (West Lebanon)

Lake Champlain – ferry (aka barge across in 15 min) from NY to Vermont
  • Miles today 86.0
  • Miles total 3693.7
  • Elevation today 5615 ft
  • Elevation total 145625 ft
  • Weather – cool, mid 50’s and sunny; no wind – it was cycling bliss
Plan for the day – the little peak was 6.5 mile climb with a couple 10%+ grades!! It was uggggh!

Another perfect day for cycling!!!! We got a 2-fer on states – Vermont and New Hampshire. Both states look the same from a bike – beautiful big hills, which the locals call mountains with leaves in full range of color…hitting it a peak color. That means lots of tourists and cars!!!

The ride was pretty calm except for the one big climb. It was a grind for 6.5 miles!!! As one in the group said “It’s a mountain, get over it!“

The evening was spent in the town of Hanover – home to Dartmouth. We cruzed their version of the Ave – crazy busy with college kids spending their parents money in brew pubs. Very nice and walkable – had soft freeze maple vanilla ice cream (the locals call a creamie) – mighty tasty the maple syrup flavor!!!

Tomorrow is on to a big day in mileage and climbing – 104 and 7200 ft – ya, brutal to get to North Conway, NH.
