WELCOME!!!!

Hi I’m Larry Sexton, all my friends and fam call me Lar.  This is my website with blogs about a cycling adventure that I am undertaking to go from Astoria, OR to Portland, ME.  Yep, coast to coast, baby!  It has been an idea of mine for a number of years and now I am finally going to try to make it happen.  I am so fortunate and grateful to be able get into a tour and have my family and community there to support me in this quest.

When I set my mind to do this and I’ve let people know about it, the first question is…..WHAT?  Then followed by WHY?  Then come all the things about how many miles a day? For how long? What route? Then there are those who are really bought in who ask, Is it a race?  Do you time yourself?  Did you get one of those big, padded, bike seats?  Do you get a discount on the trip if you go faster?

So to clarify, no race; no timing; no, on the big padded bike seat; no to discounts. Back to the primary question, WHY?  I am not exactly sure.  My Dad always talked about wanting to float the Colorado river through the Grand Canyon, but was never able.  It had big influence on me that when you have a dream, go and try, don’t wait for a better time.  Covid really re-enforced that.  But, I believe that the primary reason is that I CAN.  I hope that this site will give you inspiration to dream about the things you want and go do because YOU CAN.  I am always up for an adventure, so let me know about yours.
